How to Catch a Naughty Monkey
Andy the monkey, caged in the parlor, heard their cheerful voices coming from the dining room. His eyes darted about, looking for a way to free himself and join the fun. The key to his cage was lying close by. He stretched his arm between the bars, but it was just out of reach. He spotted an artist’s brush nearby and used it to drag the key closer. Then the monkey grabbed it with his bony fingers.
Andy couldn’t wait to join the group, especially since he hadn’t been invited to one of Mr. Johnson’s social gatherings in a while. Whenever he had attended, there were three things he loved to do. First, he enjoyed eating; second, he loved swinging. With food on the table and lights hanging from the ceiling, Andy thought the grand dining hall was the perfect setting for a dinner party.
The little monkey surprised everyone when he scampered into the room and jumped onto the table. First, Andy darted from dish to dish, grabbing food and stuffing it into his mouth. Then, with food in hand, he leaped up to the lights and started swinging from one dangling fixture to another. Soon the excited monkey moved on to his third favorite thing—throwing food at people.
